A rib subluxation is a common problem. It occurs when the articulation between the rib and the the spine becomes misaligned.
We may not perceive it, but our ribs move every time we take a breath. When we exhale, the ribs move back to their normal resting position – unless something happens to prevent it, resulting in a rib subluxation.
Rib problems can occur with most any movement that strains the joints between the rib cage and the spinal column.
Rib Subluxation Treatment
Rib subluxations are usually treated very simply with manipulative therapy and occasionally soft tissue therapy. If there is swelling or spasm around the joint, therapy like stimulation with ice packs can be applied. It is not unusual to to achieve a pain free resolution within one to three treatments.
