Dry Needling

Dry Needling is an evidence-based treatment used at Deutsch Chiropractic Clinic for a variety of pain problems. The procedure looks like acupuncture because the same very fine needles are used to get tight and tender muscles to relax.

How does Dry Needling Work?

Dry needling treatment of active trigger points reduces pain by:

  • Increasing blood flow to the muscle tissue
  • Improving muscles ability to stretch/relax with movement
  • Decreasing tension in the muscles to help reduce pain and strain
  • Deactivating painful trigger points
  • Improve the brains ability to activate muscles, inhibit pain and improve function.

What types of Conditions Benefits from Dry Needling?

Patients with any of the following conditions may be a candidate for dry needling:

  • Entrapment syndromes: Piriformis syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, pronator teres syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, and cubital tunnel syndrome
  • Sprain/strain injuries: Hamstring, neck and back.
  • Tendonitis: Rotator cuff tendonitis, medial/lateral epicondylitis, bicipital tendonitis, trochanteric bursitis, iliotibial band syndrome, patellar tendonitis, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis
